  • Following on from the success of our 2010 and 2011 events, Professor Gary Lye is Chairing the third meeting in the series "Miniaturisation -Micro Scale Bioprocess Development". Miniaturisation and automation of bioprocess development continues to be a rapidly expanding area of interest since the technologies promise to reduce biopharmaceutical development time and cost. This meeting aims to highlight recent technologies used in high throughput bioprocess development, from clone selection through to analysis of final product and formulation. A series of expert speakers will describe the development and use of current miniaturisation technologies together with the technical and regulatory hurdles that must be overcome to facilitate wider industrial uptake.

  • This exciting one‐day symposium focuses on the ontogeny,
plasticity and inter‐relationships of regulatory T cells (Tregs) and
T helper (Th) cells. It will consider both the fundamental biology of
these cells and their translational potential, drawing on the
expertise of world‐class speakers who are all actively engaged in
research within this rapidly evolving area of immunology.
This symposium will provide an ideal opportunity for networking,
aiming to bring together both international authorities in Treg and
Th cell biology and more junior members of the profession, who will
be able to present their work in a friendly environment.
Refreshments and lunch will be provided in the setting of the widely
acclaimed Camden Lightwell of the Royal Veterinary College, an
academic institution with over 200 years of heritage in veterinary
medicine and bioscience.

  • Infectious disease are still a major cause of morbidity an mortality worldwide. Successful treatment and prevention are still hampered by insufficient understanding of the subtle interactions that govern the infectious processes. Evasion of the natural or vaccine-induced immune response is often at the basis of the onset and escalation of disease and can also result in the persistence of the pathogen in chronic infections. This EuroSciCon meeting will be a premier forum for the presentation of cutting-edge research on key mechanisms used by different classes of pathogens to evade host innate and acquired immunity. The meeting will contribute to steer the course of future research into more rational measures to prevent disease in humans and animals.
