This particular role will also require the Engineer to be fully conversant with Instrument and process control equipment installation, maintenance, calibration and fault finding. Ideally, the engineer will also be conversant with maintenance and fault diagnosis (including software interrogation & management) of DCS, PLC and SCADA systems.

Reporting to the Engineering Supervisor, the Site Engineer will perform both the day to day routine requirements, scheduled and unscheduled PPM (planned preventative maintenance) tasks as well as more varied project dependant tasks.

The job holder will also be expected to be part of an On-Call rota whereby they will be the initial point of contact for the resolution of any Engineering & Facilities Issues for 1 week in 4.

3rd Annual “Induced Pluripotent Stem Cells: Production and Utility in Regenerative Medicine”

Human induced pluripotent stem cells (hiPSCs) generated by reprogramming somatic cells represent an unique opportunity for regenerative medicine. Indeed, hIPSCs can proliferate indefinitely in vitro while maintaining the capacity to differentiate into broad number of cell type. Therefore, hIPSCs could be used to produce an infinite quantity of cell type with a clinical interest. In addition, hIPSCs could enable the production of patient specific cell types which are fully immuno-compatible with the original donor thereby avoiding the need for immune suppressive treatment during cell based therapy. However, recent reports have suggested that epigenetic and genetic anomalies associated with direct reprogramming technology could limit the interest of hIPSCs for in vivo use.

This 3rd Annual event will review the drawback and advantages of hIPSCs for diverse type of clinical applications.

Job Summary

Glythera’s development team will be responsible for relocating the processes currently associated with the PermaCarb™ and PermaLink™ technologies to its facilities in the North East whilst further developing them for use in a biomanufacturing environment using market relevant biologics  either through in house or collaborative activities.

The scientific team will have significant input into the technical strategy for these technologies whilst undertaking data review, report generation and external presentations to support Glythera’s technology development and business activities.

The successful candidates will ideally have a technical background in process (upstream and downstream) and analytical development for biologics. In addition, knowledge of chemistry based technologies and manufacturing processes would be an advantage although training will be given.

Key responsibilities:

• Reporting to the Principle Development Scientist and undertaking the development of technologies which can be effectively deployed to the development and  manufacturing of biopharmaceutical products,
• To contribute to the technology development strategies and maintain a culture of continual improvement and scientific excellence,
• To exemplify Glythera’s enabling technologies using market relevant biologics,
• The design, execution, analysis and interpretation of experiments and the data generated,
• To develop, optimise, scale up/down protein and appropriate technology based manufacturing processes,
